About EYS Soccer
The Edison Youth Sports Recreational Soccer program is made up of players from Pre-K through 8th grade. Our mission is to develop happy, healthy, and productive children through competitive soccer. The focus is on learning the fundamentals of soccer with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship. We offer co-ed teams from U6 to U15.
Little Kickers program: This is our in-house program for the younger players. We concentrate on the basics of soccer and team building. Beginning foot skills and basic passing drills are taught with an emphasis on fun!!!
Rec Travel Soccer: For the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 Edison Youth Soccer will be playing in the Lorain County Rec Travel League. There are no try-outs and every player gets to play 50% of time during the game. Our emphasis is placed on learning the game, team building and the sportsmanship involved with being in a competitive atmosphere.
U8(birth year 2011) starting this spring. Spring 2019 will be our first attempt in fielding a U8 rec travel team. Players will have the option to stay in the Little Kickers program or move on to the U8 rec travel team.
U9 (birth year 2010)
U10 (birth year 2009)
U11 (birth year 2008)
U12 (birth year 2007) We do not always have enough players to form a team at each age group. So some times players are moved up an age group to help fill out a team or teams.
The emphasis at these age groups is expanding the players knowledge of the game. Dribbling, foot skills, passing, field spacing, defensive awareness, with some positional specialization. As always FUN!!!! is also emphasized.
U13/14/15 or jr high Travel (birth year 2006/2005/2004) At this level we try to begin to separate the teams into girls and boys(sometimes not enough players sign up to make the separation). Here we are trying to give the players an idea of what high school soccer will be like. Its still Fun!! but more work and commitment is expected to prepare our players for the next level.
